Join us on two Monday evenings for a vibrant discussion of one of the most important upaniṣad-s, offering timeless guidance on overcoming the fear of death, understanding the true nature of the Self, and distinguishing between fleeting pleasure and that which is truly good.
All of this is wrapped up in the engaging story of Naciketa, a young man who meets Yama, the god of death, and discovers Yama to be not a figure of fear, but a teacher. Yama does not threaten Naciketa, he listens.
And then the story unfolds…

Curious about the picture? It’s Yama and he’s saying:
उत्तिष्ठत जाग्रत प्राप्य वरान्निबोधत।
क्षुरस्य धारा निशिता दुरत्यया दुर्गं पथस्तत्कवयो वदन्ति॥
uttiṣṭhata jāgrata prāpya varān nibodhata |
kṣurasya dhārā niśitā duratyayā durgaṃ pathastatkavayo vadanti ||
